SOMA Neuromuscular Integration
SOMA sessions (90-120 minutes)-$100
SOMA Neuromuscular Integration or SOMA is bodywork rooted in the tradition of Ida Rolf's Rolfing, a 10 session treatment protocol of structural integration. SOMA seeks to release restrictions in the fascia (the connective tissue that covers and supports all the anatomical structures of the body) which inhibit optimal physical functioning, create freer pathways for the nervous system, and facilitate greater structural integrity throughout the musculoskeletal system. People who have received a SOMA series generally experience improved posture, decreased pain, improved physical function, increased energy, and more self-body awareness.
SOMA sessions are 90 minutes and are offered in a ten session series initially, to integrate and optimize each person’s individual structure. You may stop after the first 3 sessions if you do not want to continue, but once you begin the 4th session, completing the 10-session series is highly recommended to avoid possible long term imbalances. While the experience of this work is unique for each individual, after completing the 10 series many people report feeling dramatic changes in their body, their posture, their emotions, and even at times their life choices. A SOMA 10 session series often literally changes people’s lives for the better, not just by relieving pain, but also by helping people be more present in their mind and body and being more aware of how we interact physically with the world around us. After completing the initial ten series, some people prefer stand alone SOMA follow-up treatments to traditional massage as a deep tissue style of bodywork and choose it just for that.
